EMDR Therapy
Eye-Movement Desensitisation and Reprogramming or EMDR is a world-renowned and evidence-based form of intense therapy with a certified practitioner and is advocated by the WHO, the NHS and is strongly recommended in the NICE guidelines.

It is widely used for PTSD and trauma-related issues (big T and little t). It's also highly effective for those with troublesome memories, adverse childhood and adult experiences which may present as negative core beliefs about oneself. This may look like low self-esteem, reduced confidence, stuck patterns of behaviour, anxiety, depression, relationship issues and more.

I'm a trained and certified EMDR practitioner by EMDR Europe and a member of EMDR UK. You may start Counselling work with me and then decide to have a number of EMDR sessions as part of that process, or you may already know that EMDR is right for you. You can be self-referred or be recommended through the NHS, an EAP or other Psychotherapist.

EMDR is an intense and usually 'brief' form of therapy which follows 8 phases which need to be completed. We may focus on one memory, experience or negative belief, but often we work with more complex life histories where negative experiences are intertwined. It is hard to say how many sessions are required, depending on the simplicity or complexity, but EMDR may be completed in 3-8 sessions. This is clinically negotiated together, sessions are weekly.

You are welcome to get in touch and have a free, 20 minute consultation to discuss if this might be the right for you, and I can send further information.

EMDR sessions are £75 for one hour (up to a maximum of 75 minutes, agreed in session on a clinical basis.)
